The way I was reunited with my beautiful Shih Tzu Sammy turned out to be wonderful. I live in Los Gatos and was visiting my daughter in San Jose. Sammy was playing in the yard with my daughter’s dogs and we went to pick up her children at school. When we came back, my daughter’s dogs were there but my dog, Sammy, was missing. I started putting up posters immediately and while I did, a neighbor said she had seen dogs in front of the house. She said the other dogs ran back to the yard and left Sammy sitting under a car. Not knowing the dog, the neighbor didn’t know how to get him out. I gave up my search of the neighborhood and drove back home. As I reached the driveway, I noticed a sign on my door that read: “I found Sammy and brought him to Los Gatos. I have to go to work now so I’m taking him to the San Jose Animal Center.” I know through PetLink and the Animal Center that it was a woman who found him. I wish she wasn’t anonymous so I could thank her. She really went out of her way to help, it was really marvellous. He’s a striking dog but she didn’t keep him for herself or ask for a reward. I’ve already paid two rewards to get Sammy back before and it’s wonderful to have someone be a Good Samaritan. I would love to give her some flowers to say thank you. I drove right back to where I had been in San Jose where the Animal Center, located right by my daughter’s house, was open until 7 pm. As I was reunited with Sammy, I thought “When it happens, be glad there is a microchip in your pet.”
