Together Again: First Time Lucky, Second Time Chipped
Poor Lucky got out and next, he got bumped by a car! He was sore for a couple of days. He’s bound to jump the fence if we’re not around to take him for a walk. At Thanksgiving there’s a town parade and the noises of sirens and gunfire must have set him off. While everyone was lined up at the parade, Lucky was jumping the fence to check it out. A lady who had a float in the parade – perhaps she was a groomer – she’s seen him on the loose and grabbed him. Seeing his tags she called the animal doctor and Lucky was scanned and identified. I was away from home and had to call my kids to go get him. They were all out at the parade but they met up with her, ran down there and picked him up. The reason I first got Lucky chipped is because one time we were gone and he ran down to our little town. Then we got chicken about chipping him, because he always comes back, but that time, we heard he was 30 miles away in Gainesville! We went to all the veterinarians here and then a young girl called and described what seemed to be our dog, Lucky. He had jumped in her car and wouldn’t get out. She contacted animal control and then she took him home for a couple of days. Later she called all the veterinarians until we made the connection. She was a student over at U of F and when we went to get him we had to wait till she got out of school. Lucky was just plain lucky we were reunited that time, so then we got him a chip in case he gets carried away, hoping someone would see him and bring him in. We always get animals from the pound and we’ve had Lucky from a pup. He was sick, but we took a chance on him and brought him home. He straightened up and now he’s the best dog I ever had!
