Our cat was missing for about 36 hours. I knew something was off because she would never miss snack time. After flying around the neighborhood, visiting the local shelter, posting online, I found myself on PetLink. After changing her status to “Lost”, I started reading all these hopeful stories of other pets returning home after years away. Suddenly, our dog started freaking out, because he could smell her near the house. I ran to the front door and she triumphantly leaps through the door and demands a snack. Though in this case, PetLink was a guide and an emotional support. Losing a pet is heartbreaking. It’s awesome when they come home. The shelter told me they check every animal for chips, and if they see her and my chip is registered, I will get a call and that’s reassuring. Luckily, it didn’t come to that.
